27. David Spade 

David Wayne Spade, who you might simply know as David Spade, is a well-known standup comedian. He was born on the 22nd of July 1964 in the States. He has also tried his hand as an actor and a writer over the years.

David Spade was already performing standups when an agent came across him. Now, he is known as a member of the “Saturday Night Live” show via his sketches. He was quite a talented one at that and slowly rose to become one of the prominent members of the same show. Not only is he a standup comedian, but he is also a very adept actor whose acting career kickstarted during the second half of the 1980s.

In films like Tommy Boy, and Just Shoot Me, you can find this very witty comedian shine as an actor. He also hosted podcasts, Hollywood roast shows, etc. Over his long career, and has accomplished quite a feat. He was nominated for more than one award. For example, he was nominated for an Emmy, Golden Globe, etc. Recently he also appeared on CC with his “Lights Out With Spade.”

28. Taylor Tomlinson

Standup comedian Taylor Elyse Tomlinson, better known as Taylor Tomlinson, was born on November 4, 1993. She started using her talent with satire back when she was a teenager in random cafes and worked her way up.

In the year 2015, she participated in season 9 of “Last Comic Standing” and got to be in the top 10 category. Since then, she has appeared in many tv shows like the famous “The Tonight Show” and several in CC productions. She has two major Netflix specials; one is her debut, “Quater Crisis”, and the other, which was released as recently as in 2022, is titled “Look At You”. This 29-year-old comedian has also been seen hosting several podcasts on self-help issues.

29. Kumail Nanjiani

Kumail Ali Nanjiani, widely known as Kumail Nanjiani, is an actor who was born on 21st February 1978 in Pakistan. His nationality is a blend of Pakistani and American cultures. His face is known to many, mostly because of his acting career, but his talent for satire is also something commendable.

Kumail kickstarted by being in a comedy sitcom, and since then, has upgraded a lot. He recently starred in the MCU’s “Eternals” in 2021. With his talent for satire, he penned a comedy live that helped him gain more fame and recognition in L.A.

With his appearance on some of the best sitcoms over the years, along with co-hosting podcasts, Kumail has become a bonafide name in the industry. As a writer, he also penned Saturday Night Live for some time and went on to work in some of the best comedy works.

30. Ricky Gervais

British standup comedian and actor Ricky Dene Gervais, better known as Ricky Gervais, was born on 25th June 1961. Throughout his career, he collaborated on, contributed to, and starred in several British television comedies while attempting to wow more viewers with his humorous wits.

Ricky Gervais is one of the most famous personalities in the entertainment industry, considering he is the beholder of at least two Emmy Awards, five British Comedy Awards, and, lastly, three Golden Globes. The man garnered his reputation and fame owing to his performance in BBC’s “The Office”.

However, he began his career in standup way before that. In the latter half of the 1990s to be exact. He has worked in more than three international standup tours and also developed a show with Merchant and Karl Pilkington titled “The Ricky Gervais Show”. He has also been on more than one popular talk show himself, like the Graham Norton Show or the Late Night Show; the latter had seen Gervais come back again and again at least 20 times.

He has also tried his luck in directing and has one Netflix comedy film that was released back in 2016, titled “Special Correspondents”.

31. Nikki Glaser

Nicole Rene Glaser, simply known as Nikki Glaser is a standup comedian, podcaster, and television host from America. She was born on June 1st, 1984, and since then, she strived to spread the joy of a good laugh.

Nikki Glaser began her career at an early age. She was most probably 18 years old when she took to the stage to entertain her collegemates. However, she has come a long way from then and now is a very known standup comedian both nationally and globally. The very first on-screen offer she got was from Comedy Central back in 2016. It was titled “Not Safe with Nikki Glaser,” and she was the honorary host. Not only that, but she is also the host of “Fboy Island“.

This talented 39-year-old comedian also has a Netflix special titled Bangin’. She can also be seen showcasing her talents on platforms like The Tonight Show, Last Comic Standing, etc. As much as she is an able comedian, she is an equally able podcaster. She is known to co-host several podcasts with other renowned figures.

32. Tiffany Haddish

Tiffany Sara Cornilia Haddish, who the world knows as Tiffany Haddish, was born on December 3rd, 1979. She is a renowned and extremely successful standup comedian from the States. However, she is also a very talented actress too.

She became a known name after her role in “Girls Trip” back in 2017. Haddish gained much recognition, fame, and fanbase following the success of the comedy film. This kickstarted her career, and soon after, she was on the charts of The New Yorker’s List. Tiffany also gained fame through her hosting abilities.

This 43-year-old actress and comedian gained an Emmy Award for the very same ability when she hosted an episode of Saturday Night Live in the same year Girls Trip was released. Tiffany has co-written and released her memoir titled “The Last Black Unicorn” also in 2017.

Haddish also released a standup show,” Tiffany Haddish: She Ready! From the Hood to Hollywood,” in 2017.  She also goes on to receive a Grammy Award in the category of “Best Comedy Album” because of “Black Mitzvah”. Unsurprisingly she is the second black American who won this award.

33. Ari Shaffir

Ari David Shaffir, known as simply Ari Shaffir, is a standup comedian, podcaster, and actor from America. This Jewish comedian was born on 12th February 1974 and is a very talented writer too.

Ari Shaffir primarily started his stage performance at an open mic when he was still in his 20s before he moved to L.A. and built a career in this profession. However, his big break was through “The Amazing Racist”. Later on, this 49-year-old comedian started touring with several other famous comedians like Joe Rogan, Tom Segura, etc, during the latter half of the 2000s.

As aforementioned, Shaffir is also a podcaster who co-hosts “Punch Road Sports”  with two other comedians. It is also notable to know that Ari also has his podcast that he produced: “Skeptic Tank”. He has a recurring guest appearance in a podcast of Joe Rogan.

As a producer, Ari also has hands in making a television series of his standup notable “This is Not Happening”. However, he later quit the show. Another of his notable comedy special is “Double Negative” which premiered on Netflix.

34. Margaret Cho

Margaret Cho, also known as Margaret Moran Cho, was born on December 5th, 1968. She is an American who has Korean roots. Margaret fancied a career in standup and acting from a young age and went on to become just that. She is also a very vocal social activist for the LGBTQ+ community.

Margaret’s satirical themes circle around the exegesis of political injustice, social problems, and the discrimination that is still done in modern-day America based on sexual preferences and race. Before going big, Cho used to perform in clubs. However, her breakthrough came after she had a role in a sitcom titled “All-American Girl”.

She built a name for herself over the years. Cho has had her share of ups and downs since she began her career as a standup comedian. Soon All-American Girl was canceled, and Cho hit a rut. However, she came back stronger than ever in her later years. For example, her “I’m the One That I Want” was given the award of New York Magazine’s Performance of the Year.

She is also a host and a social activist. She works hard to garner awareness about the racial and sexual injustice that goes on beneath the pretentious layer of tolerance.

35. Russell Brand

Russell Edward Brand, who mostly goes by the name Russell Brand, is a British standup comedian. He was born on 4th June 1975 and is widely known for his unique, lively, and charismatic approach to delivering his jokes.

Over the years. Russell Brand aced in his field as a standup comedian and went on to win several awards, including British Comedy Awards. In the year 2000, Brand made went to his first Edinburgh Festival Fringe. As part of the 2007 Royal Variety Performance, Russell Brand entertained Late Queen Elizabeth II and Late Prince Philip.

“Russell Brand: Only Joking”, the name of his second country-wide tour, was followed by “Russell Brand: Doin’n Life” on tape. Slowly but steadily, he started performing overseas, like in Australia, the US, etc. As an actor, his breakthrough was in “Forgetting Sarah Marshall”. He worked in several other movies, and also sometimes as a voice artist too.
