Daoko’s COMIT COMET Announced as Yowayowa Sensei Opening Theme
Japanese artist Daoko is set to return to the anime spotlight with her upcoming single COMIT COMET, which has officially been confirmed as the opening theme for the TV anime Yowayowa Sensei. The track will be released digitally on April 12, 2026, aligning with the anime’s broadcast debut in the same month.
The announcement comes as anticipation builds for Yowayowa Sensei, a romantic comedy adaptation currently serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine.
TV anime Yowayowa Sensei
Known for its lighthearted tone and character-driven storytelling, the series follows Hiyori Hiwamura, a timid and somewhat unreliable new English teacher who is unexpectedly feared by her students. Despite her shy personality, she gradually grows into her role with the support of her student Abikura, forming meaningful bonds along the way.
Daoko’s COMIT COMET is expected to reflect the anime’s emotional and comedic balance. The song is composed and arranged by Hideya Kojima, a frequent collaborator who has worked with Daoko on several previous tracks.
The production blends nostalgic Shibuya-kei influences from the 1990s and early 2000s with modern international funk elements, resulting in what is described as the artist’s “grooviest and cutest” release to date.
A preview of the track has already been featured in the anime’s main promotional video, giving fans an early taste of its upbeat and colorful tone. The combination of Daoko’s distinctive vocal style and Kojima’s composition is expected to deliver a memorable opening sequence that complements the series’ aesthetic.

Comment from Daoko
While working on the song, I read the original manga and found myself charmed by the cuteness and earnestness of Yowayowa-sensei (Hiyori Hiwamura). I wanted to express that feeling by likening it to the stars, so I teamed up with Hideya Kojima and poured everything into creating a full-on pop track. The result is a “star-core” anisong we’re really proud of, I’m already looking forward to seeing all the different sides of Yowayowa-sensei brought to life in the anime.
Beyond its musical composition, COMIT COMET also features a strong visual presentation. The single’s jacket design is handled by Hazuki Tamano, with key artwork illustrated by Akatsuki Hono and supervised by Yoshiko Takemoto. These creative contributions further reinforce the cohesive artistic direction surrounding the release.
Daoko’s involvement adds significant weight to Yowayowa Sensei’s debut. The Tokyo-born artist rose to prominence at just 15 years old and has since built a multifaceted career spanning music, literature, and visual art. Her collaboration with Kenshi Yonezu on Uchiage Hanabi surpassed 600 million views on YouTube, cementing her global appeal.
In recent years, she has continued to evolve creatively, including launching her own agency and participating in collaborative projects such as QUBIT.
With a recognizable voice, a strong production team, and a thematically aligned anime project, COMIT COMET is positioned to become one of the standout anime openings of Spring 2026. As both the song and series prepare for release, fans can expect a vibrant and emotionally resonant experience that highlights Daoko’s continued evolution as an artist.
