Eiichiro Oda Confirms Shamrock Visited the Gorosei During Reverie, Not Shanks
The long-standing debate regarding the hooded figure who met with the Five Elders during the Levely (also known as Reverie), has finally been settled by Eiichiro Oda.
In a groundbreaking Q&A session, the author confirmed that the individual speaking about a certain pirate was not the Red-Haired Emperor Shanks, but rather an individual named Shamrock. This revelation clarifies a major point of confusion for the One Piece community that has persisted since the figure’s debut in Chapter 907.
Fans have spent years analyzing the silhouette of the man in the Room of Authority, with many assuming it was Shanks due to the character’s appearance and the reaction of the Gorosei.
However, Oda-sensei has clarified that the hooded figure was actually Shamrock. Interestingly, Oda admitted to a production oversight in the anime adaptation where the character was mistakenly voiced by Shuichi Ikeda, the voice actor for Shanks.
“In the anime, it was actually voiced by Shanks’ voice actor, Shuichi Ikeda. I realized, ‘Ah! I forgot to tell the anime staff that it’s not Shanks!’ But later, I met Shamrock’s voice actor, Tsuda Kenjiro (Tsudaken), and thought, ‘He’s the one for Shamrock!’”
This confirmation not only solves the mystery of the meeting but also introduces Tsuda Kenjiro as the official voice for Shamrock, marking a distinct separation between the two characters moving forward.
Comparison of the Levely Meeting and Lore Revelations
While the Shamrock reveal is a massive development for the current timeline, Oda also provided context on other legendary figures and the daily lives of the Straw Hat crew.
The author concluded his session by teasing the upcoming volume, promising that the narrative momentum will only increase as the crew faces new challenges.
“The standard thing, above all, is probably singing.”
With Shamrock’s identity now confirmed, the focus shifts to his motives and the nature of his relationship with the Five Elders.
