Elden Ring Nightreign Receives Hotfix 1.03.5 to Address Multiplayer Performance Issues

Elden Ring Nightreign 2.avif

FromSoftware has deployed a minor but targeted hotfix for Elden Ring Nightreign, continuing its post-launch support with a focus on stabilizing online play. The update, labeled version 1.03.5, went live on March 31 during scheduled maintenance and is designed specifically to resolve a multiplayer performance issue that had been affecting co-op sessions.

Unlike major patches, this hotfix does not introduce new content, balance changes, or system adjustments. Instead, it addresses a specific technical flaw tied to multiplayer Expeditions, one that could degrade performance for all participants under certain conditions.

The issue, according to publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment, involved repeated use of certain in-game actions during multiplayer Expeditions.

When triggered, this behavior would cause a noticeable drop in performance across all connected players, potentially impacting responsiveness and overall gameplay stability. The fix aims to eliminate that degradation and restore consistent performance during cooperative sessions.

From a technical standpoint, this update is categorized as a server-side regulation update rather than a full client patch. This distinction is important: players are not required to download a traditional update file.

Instead, the game automatically applies the new regulation data when connecting online. As a result, the process is seamless for most users, provided they log into the game servers.

After the update is applied, players should see the following version identifiers on the title screen:

  • App Version: 1.03.2
  • Regulation Version: 1.03.5

If the regulation version does not display correctly, players are advised to manually connect to the game’s servers via the login option to ensure the latest data is applied. This step is essential, as the update is mandatory for accessing online features.

The patch applies across all major platforms, including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. As with previous regulation updates, synchronization with the server ensures parity between players in online environments, which is critical for maintaining stable matchmaking and cooperative gameplay.

While the update is relatively small in scope, it reflects FromSoftware’s ongoing effort to refine the multiplayer experience in Elden Ring Nightreign. Performance consistency has been a recurring concern in online Expeditions, especially in scenarios involving repeated ability usage or coordinated player actions.

Addressing such issues through backend updates allows the developer to respond quickly without disrupting the broader player base with large downloads.

This hotfix also underscores the importance of regulated data in modern live-service elements, even within primarily single-player-focused titles like Elden Ring. By decoupling certain fixes from full patches, developers can iterate more rapidly on network-related problems and maintain a smoother experience for players engaging in cooperative or competitive modes.

At this stage, no additional changes or upcoming fixes have been announced in connection with version 1.03.5. However, given FromSoftware’s track record, further refinements, particularly to multiplayer stability and balance, are likely to follow in future updates.

For now, players returning to Elden Ring Nightreign can expect more stable co-op sessions, especially in scenarios that previously triggered performance drops.
