Legendary Korean Trot Singer Song Dae Kwan Passes Away at 78
Korean trot music legend Song Dae Kwan passed away on the morning of February 7, 2025, after suffering a heart attack.
He was 78 years old. Song had been experiencing poor health and was admitted to Seoul National University Hospital on February 6, 2025. Despite efforts to treat him, he tragically passed away the following day.

The renowned singer was scheduled to appear on KBS1’s Gayo Stage next week but had to cancel due to his declining health. Song Dae Kwan, who debuted in 1967, became an iconic figure in the Korean trot music scene.
His contributions to the genre over the years cemented his status as a legend. Some of his most famous songs include “Four Bears,” “One Ticket,” and “Popular Song.”
Along with other prominent figures like Tae Jin Ah, Hyun Cheol, and Seol Woon Do, Song was considered one of the “four kings of trot.”
His passing marks the end of an era for Korean trot music, and he will be remembered as a trailblazer in the genre.
