Shuhua to Lead Happy and Joyful Days in Highly Anticipated Film Debut

(G)I-DLE’s Shuhua is officially embarking on a new chapter in her career as she prepares to make her big-screen debut.
In an announcement that has thrilled fans globally, Cube Entertainment confirmed on March 26, 2026, that Shuhua has been cast as the lead in an upcoming Chinese-language film titled Happy and Joyful Days.
This project marks a significant milestone for the artist, transitioning from the music stage to the cinematic world under the guidance of a highly acclaimed director.
A Tale of Two Sisters and an Unexpected Companion
Directed by the award-winning Feng-I Fiona Roan, Happy and Joyful Days explores the intricate lives of two sisters with vastly different personalities.
The story centers on their seemingly peaceful daily routines, which begin to unravel following the accidental discovery of a stray cat.
Shuhua will take on the role of Lin Jia Qi, the youngest sister, whose character is described as both innocent and cheerful.
The film follows her journey as the connections she forms through this stray cat gradually transform her outlook on life.
The choice of director adds a layer of prestige to the project. Feng-I Fiona Roan is well-known in the industry for her critical success with the film American Girl, which earned her several honors at the Golden Horse Awards, including Best New Director, the FIPRESCI Prize, and the Audience Award.
With such a distinguished creative at the helm, expectations are high for Shuhua’s performance and the film’s overall narrative quality.
Shuhua’s Vision for Her Acting Debut
Shuhua herself has expressed great enthusiasm and a sense of responsibility regarding this new challenge.
She shared her desire to present a more multifaceted version of herself to the public, moving beyond her idol persona. Speaking on her debut, Shuhua stated:
“I want to show a different side of myself as an actress. I hope to bring a new kind of surprise to my fans.”
She also delved deeper into the connection she feels with her character, Lin Jia Qi, noting both the similarities and the differences that she hopes to explore through her acting. She elaborated:
“Lin Jia Qi’s bright and emotional personality is similar to mine. However, her inner struggles- worrying about the future and avoiding it- are aspects I want to challenge myself with. I will convey them at my own pace.”
While Shuhua prepares for her film debut, (G)I-DLE remains incredibly active on the global stage.
The group is currently in the midst of their fourth world tour, “Syncopation,” with upcoming stops scheduled for Australia, Singapore, Yokohama, and Hong Kong.
Additionally, they are set to perform at the major music festival Lollapalooza in Chicago this July. Balancing a rigorous international touring schedule with a lead film role highlights Shuhua’s dedication and the group’s continued dominance in the entertainment industry.
