Según un artículo de Hollywood Reporter, Michael Caine y Glenda Jackson pronto serán vistos juntos en una película llamada El Grand Escaper. También se ha afirmado que la historia de la película se basa en hechos reales de la vida de un veterano de la Segunda Guerra Mundial que planea dejar su casa de retiro para asistir al 70 aniversario del desembarco del Día D en Francia. La película está coproducida por Pathe y se proyectará en el European Film Market el próximo mes.

La historia de El Grand Escaper capturó la imaginación del mundo y consistió en una historia agridulce que exploraba la realidad con ingenio y un gran corazón. La aventura de 48 horas de Bernie también marcó el pico de su matrimonio de 60 años con Irene. Su historia celebrará su amor sin sentimentalismos y con la mirada puesta en las lecciones que cualquiera podría aprender de la gran generación. Dirigida por Oliver Parker, la fotografía principal está programada para comenzar en junio de este año. La película también será producida por Robert Bernstein y Douglas Rae, conocidos por sus nominaciones al BAFTA.
