Mrs. GREEN APPLE Break Into Global Top Rankings as ‘10’ Gains Worldwide Momentum

Mrs Green

Japanese band Mrs. GREEN APPLE has secured a notable position on the global music stage, ranking No. 13 on the IFPI Global Artist Chart 2025. They are the only Japanese act to appear on this year’s list, underscoring their growing international reach.

The achievement follows another milestone for the group, as their greatest hits album 10 claimed the No. 10 spot on the IFPI Global Album Chart 2025. The rankings, compiled by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, are based on a comprehensive aggregation of streaming, download, and physical sales data from over 8,000 record companies worldwide.

The dual recognition has drawn widespread attention, placing the band alongside some of the most commercially successful artists globally.

A key factor behind the group’s appeal lies in their songwriting approach. Their lyrics frequently reflect everyday struggles and emotional realities, offering encouragement without sounding prescriptive. This perspective-driven writing style has resonated with a broad audience navigating modern challenges.

Central to the band’s identity is vocalist and creative lead Motoki Ohmori, who writes, composes, and arranges all of their music. Ohmori also directs the band’s creative output, including artwork and music video concepts. His vocal delivery, known for fluid transitions across multiple registers, contributes significantly to the band’s emotional and technical depth.

Musically, Mrs. GREEN APPLE avoids conventional genre limitations. While rooted in a band format, their work incorporates elements that extend beyond traditional rock, supported by visually elaborate performances and stylized presentation. Their concerts and music videos often feature theatrical staging and choreography, reinforcing their reputation for high-production entertainment.

The group has also established a strong presence in anime collaborations. Their music has been featured in several projects, including contributions to Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, where their sound complements narrative storytelling and expands their audience internationally.

Released on July 8, 2025, the album 10 marks the band’s second greatest hits collection. The 19-track project highlights material from their “Phase 2” era and includes popular titles such as “Que Sera Sera,” “Lilac,” and “Darling.” The compilation serves as a retrospective of their stylistic range and evolution over the past decade.

Over ten years since their debut, Mrs. GREEN APPLE has developed into a prominent act that bridges J-pop and broader global pop sensibilities. Their latest IFPI rankings indicate that their influence is no longer confined to Japan but is increasingly recognized on an international scale.
